Product Lead Battery Power Sources

Mission:

Provide the Warfighter with standardized, lightweight, efficient battery power and energy management system solutions that enhance maneuverability and reduce sustainment demand across distributed operations.

Vision:

Serve as the Army acquisition management lead in battery systems standardization and modernization efforts that augment joint Warfighting capabilities.

Values:

Dedicated Team, Integrity, and Ingenuity

Focus:

The primary focus of the Product Lead for Batteries centers on communications and electronics (C-E) batteries as they most directly impact the dismounted Soldier and provide multiple opportunities for near term improvements. To address this challenge PM E2S2 recommended and has received approval through PEO CS&CSS to develop a battery acquisition program management office mission and objectives. The designated charter and funding approach to manage a cradle to grave lifecycle including the development, procurement, fielding and sustainment for Battery Management is being worked. This includes promoting standardization through cooperation with capability developers to coordinate user requirements; outreach to materiel developers to integrate programs of record-battery portfolio; establishing partnerships with the science and technology community; and teaming with industry and academia to enable competitive stable battery enhancements. The overarching goal of the new office is to: modernize and standardize Army batteries to reduce costs, reduce the proliferation of multiple proprietary battery types; reduce the logistics burden on Soldiers; eliminate inefficiencies and make our equipment more effective by centrally managing Army battery acquisitions.
